Elektrobit has announced EB corbos Linux for Safety Applications, a new open-source vehicle OS that is compliant with automotive functional safety standards, including ISO 26262 ASIL B and IEC 61508 SIL 2.

With the solution, Elektrobit is aiming to help automotive OEMs and suppliers utilize Linux in safety-related HPC functional domains, including ADAS and AV applications. At the same time, it offers up to 15 years of maintenance to ensure security throughout its lifetime and can accelerate time-to-market by up to 50% through its adoption of open source, enabling reduced development costs.

Elektrobit said that it had selected open source for its new OS based on its strengths in transparency, flexibility and security over proprietary software. The company more broadly confirmed that the solution is now available for project integration worldwide and will be showcased at Auto China 2024 in Beijing.
