Lucid Group has launched Lucid UX 2.4, a new major software update for its Air EV. While rolling out new features and capabilities for DreamDrive Pro, the OEM’s optional ADAS, the update also delivers the all-new Lucid Assistant, an updated map design, and more.
At the height of the new additions and enhancements delivered to DreamDrive Pro through UX 2.4 is an upgraded Highway Assist. The feature now utilizes HD maps to provide drivers with more information on HOV lanes, exit scenarios, and lane merges and splits. It can now also be engaged on curves, offering more adaptive and responsive driving. A new, driver-initiated, lane change assist allows drivers to initiate lane changes with a simple long press of the turn signal, supported by clear notifications and arrows on the user interface.
At the same time, DreamDrive Pro will also add an Extended Stop and Go system where, in heavy stop-and-go driving scenarios, the vehicle will resume traveling after longer stops in traffic if the driver is still looking ahead. In leveraging the Air’s on-board sensor suite, Lucid has also created a 3D lane visualization on the center screen, offering drivers an additional view of their surroundings when on the highway while laying the foundation for expanded functions planned for future introduction. Lucid also highlighted new revisions to the Air’s Adaptive Cruise Control system that will introduce automatic curve speed control, making it easier to use on winding roads.
Beyond ADAS, UX 2.4 will also introduce Lucid Assistant – the OEM’s all-new, proprietary, voice assistant. Designed as a hands-free system, the new assistant replaces Alexa and allows users to control many vehicle functions through voice commands. It is activated by either pressing the microphone button on the steering wheel or saying ‘Hey Lucid’ – and can recognize voice commands to control navigation and audio systems, change the climate control, turn on heated seats, access the owner’s manual, and more. Drivers can choose to activate or deactivate Lucid Assistant in the vehicle settings menu.
Further improvements issued through Lucid’s new update include the display of turn-by-turn navigation instructions in the center instrument cluster when using CarPlay, the display of HomeLink universal device on-screen controls while the vehicle is in reverse, and enhanced connectivity between Lucid’s vehicles and its Lucid Mobile App. Through UX 2.4, the app can now connect to the car more quickly and is more responsive to input commands. It can now also be used to customize User Profile attributes remotely, reducing the need to update profiles from within the Air EV itself.
Lucid confirmed that UX 2.4 will roll out from September 9 in North America as an OTA update. Eligible owners of the Air EV will receive a notification in the car and the Lucid mobile app when the new software version is available. They can then choose to start the installation right away, or schedule it for a convenient time. The Lucid mobile app will allow owners to install UX 2.4 remotely, even if they are away from the car.
