Woven Planet has announced the acquisition of Renovo Motors, a Silicon Valley-based automotive operating system developer.

Renovo develops specialized software that will help Woven Planet to enable programmable vehicles with Arene (its vehicle development platform). This software will also work to realize Woven Planet’s vision of safe, sustainable, and reliable mobility.

The acquisition will add depth to Woven Planet’s resources, particularly for Arene. For instance, it will provide the Toyota subsidiary with a team experienced in the development of a complete software-defined vehicle infrastructure stack. It will similarly provide a platform, and software, capable of working flexible across multiple OEM platforms and establish an ecosystem of industry partners.

Woven Planet’s acquisition of Renovo follows similar acquisitions of autonomous technology companies earlier this year – including Carmera, a HD-mapping start up, and Lyft’s autonomous driving division.
