WeRide has launched the Robovan W5, its latest L4 delivery vehicle built on its proprietary autonomous technology.
Capable of operating 24 hours per day 7 days per week, in a broad range of weather conditions, the AV offers long-distance and bulk delivery capabilities that integrate vehicle, cloud, and operations to address key challenges in the logistics industry. Here, WeRide envisions the new Robovan being particularly useful in express delivery, urban distribution and various point-to-point logistics, with a cost-effective unmanned delivery solution.
Focused on logistics operations for urban open roads, the Robovan W5 features WeRide’s self-designed redundant sensor kit which detects vehicles, traffic lights, pedestrians, and other road users, while providing 360-degree perception that allows it to operate 24/7 across various traffic conditions. Its delivery-specific features include a large cargo capacity of 5.5 cubic meters, a maximum payload of 1000kg (2204 lb), an operating range of 220 kilometers (136 miles) and modular cargo box stacking for different scenarios.
The autonomous van is further capable of navigating complex urban traffic environments using an intelligent path optimization system that analyzes traffic conditions in real-time, dynamically adjusting routes to avoid congestion. Its key safety features include redundant drive-by-wire chassis, redundant perception, emergency braking, collision warning, driving status monitoring and intelligent Cloud Control Platform. For fleet managers, the Robovan W5 supports multi-vehicle platooning, allowing single-operator management of multiple vehicles for standardized, scalable delivery. Its electric drive and 24/7 operations, WeRide says, help reduce operational costs.
WeRide is also offering a suite of service features for the new Robovan, including cloud-based intelligent scheduling, real-time monitoring, task optimization, and data analytics, rapid deployment, and remote OTA upgrades. WeRide also provides 24/7 customer support, on-site training, customized solutions, comprehensive warranty, complimentary maintenance, vehicle replacement for quality issues, and IoT.
