WeRide has announced an expanded strategic cooperation agreement with Tencent Cloud to support its autonomous driving R&D efforts and robotaxi commercialization, as well as its expansion into international markets.

Through the newly expanded partnership, the companies will together explore the commercial deployment of L4 autonomous robotaxis. Here, WeRide’s robotaxi services will be integrated into a variety of Tencent-owned platforms, including the Tencent Smart Transportation Mini Program available on Weixin/WeChat and Tencent Maps, to offer users an autonomous travel experience that is safer, more convenient, and more comfortable.

With a view toward global expansion, WeRide and Tencent Cloud will jointly develop intelligent driving solutions for international markets. Leveraging Tencent Cloud’s global infrastructure and operational experience, WeRide’s robotaxis will be supported by localized, compliant, cloud services abroad, to build a high-performance, stable operations network for autonomous mobility. This will, in turn, allow WeRide to accelerate the scaled commercial rollout of its autonomous driving products in new markets overseas.

In addition to these activities, the companies will more broadly collaborate to build cloud platforms and tools designed to enhance the development and deployment of autonomous driving technologies, while accelerating related R&D efforts and aligning with local compliance and cybersecurity standards in the respective markets.

With this upgraded strategic partnership, the companies ultimately aim to broaden and deepen their collaboration, in anticipation of the globally scaled commercialization of intelligent driving solutions.
