Volvo Cars has taken 100% ownership of Zenseact, its subsidiary for autonomous driving software development.
The OEM had previously shared a 86.5% stake in the company with ECARX, from who it acquired the remaining stake from. Zenseact will now become a fully owned Volvo Cars subsidiary, leading development of safety, ADAS, and autonomous technologies for new Volvo and Polestar vehicles. While working closely with the OEM, Zenseact itself will remain and operate as a standalone company.
The ongoing collaboration discussions between Zenseact and ECARX will continue as planned. Volvo’s acquisition of the remaining stake in Zenseact was completed on December 31.
