Vodafone has opened a 5G Lab in Düsseldorf that will check whether they are in harmony with the fifth-generation mobile network. At the heart of the 5G Labs is the 5G Testing Area. A 20 square meter measuring chamber sealed to the highest safety standards, in which already today a real 5G network is working.
Thomas Geisel, Lord Mayor of the City of Düsseldorf: “Düsseldorf is a pioneer and driver of innovation. Here is put into action what others just talk about. The upcoming mobile generation is not only much faster, but also allows real-time applications. Autonomous driving and Industry 4.0 become possible in the first place. “
Together with Hannes Ametsreiter, Vodafone Chief Technology Officer Eric Kuisch and the two leading scientists in the fields of Robotics and 5G, Professor Sami Haddadin and Professor Gerhard Fettweis, MdB Thomas Jarzombek and Lord Mayor Thomas Geisel officially opened the new 5G Lab in Düsseldorf – and thus the Location for the internationally valid 5G endurance test.
