Plus has announced its selection of Velociti as the deployment and maintenance partner for its national Plus Build program.
The program installs systems on new and existing Class 8 trucks that provide them with semi-autonomous functions. Among these systems are LiDAR, radar, and camera sensors alongside Plus’ proprietary autonomous driving software.
This combination, called PlusDrive, works to enhance safety, comfort, and reduce fuelling costs by a minimum of 10%. With the combined system installed at the nearest convenient location to the customer or near major transportation hubs across the U.S. The trucks can be maintained nationwide, with mobile resources used to take maintenance to them.
Supervised by a truck operator, PlusDrive supports a wide range of functions when autonomously driving in normal traffic conditions on a highway. These include lane centering, driver initiated lane change, traffic jam assist, predictive fuel optimization, adaptive cruise control (down to zero), lane merging and driver attentiveness detection. It will also sport an operational design domain (ODD) checker and self-calibration while benefitting from OTA updates.
Through its new program, and its partnership with Velociti, Plus will now deploying PlusDrive nationwide. The company is also implementing Velociti’s VeloCare solution, a proactive system-health monitoring program that includes remote and mobile services to maximize technology uptime.
