Nexar, a provider of AI-powered mobility solutions, has announced a new partnership with Japan Post, a special private company (operating under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) offering postal and logistics services in Japan. Through their collaboration, the companies are aiming to improve road conditions in the region, using dashcams to do so, while also supporting the promotion of autonomous vehicles (AVs).
Here, the collaboration will use images and location data from Nexar dashcams fitted onto Japan Post vehicles (from the Japan Post Transport Co) to monitor highway road construction and damage. This data will then contribute to the development of a system aimed at improving and maintaining roads across the country. These same insights will also be used to map the necessary solutions for accelerating the deployment of autonomous vehicles throughout Japan.
Nexar, itself, has been operating in Japan since 2021 and offers mobility data utilization services in the country. Over time, the company envisions the partnership accelerating as it expands efforts to reach a next-generation mobility service in the country.
In recent months, the company has focused on partnering with key governmental organizations, brands, and industry leaders to leverage its data and insights to better understand unique safety risks, inform AV systems, accelerate AV technologies, and improve road infrastructure. Most recently, Lyft announced a partnership with Nexar to create data-driven solutions related to AV technology deployment.
