May Mobility has launched a new, on-demand, autonomous public transit service for the retirement community of Sun City, AZ, powered by Via’s transit technologies.
In deploying the service, May Mobility is aiming to leverage AVs to expand access to safe, reliable, and equitable on-demand transportation to Sun City, a community designed for adults aged 55 and older. The company also aims to understand how its technology is adopted, while addressing mobility challenges faced by aging adults.
Here, May Mobility & Via will also utilize their service to demonstrate the increased freedom and mobility benefits gained through its AVs, with the intent to engage, serve, and educate these communities to drive the adoption of innovative technologies.
Both companies confirmed that the Sun City service will operate from Monday to Friday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM – navigating resident complexes, recreation centers, grocery stores, pharmacies, and medical centers.
