Polestar and Luminar have confirmed plans to deepen their partnership around the integration of LiDAR in Polestar’s vehicles.
The partnership will now see Luminar’s autonomous technology built into the Polestar 5 – the Volvo EV brand’s forthcoming four-door GT scheduled for a 2024 launch. Both firms will then collaborate further on LiDAR integration and design for Polestar’s future vehicles. Luminar’s long-range Iris LiDAR and software will also be available on the Polestar 3 model where, like the Polestar 5, it will be integrated into the vehicle roofline.
Customers in the brand’s initial markets can now order a Polestar 3 with LiDAR before deliveries begin in 2024.
