Premiered at Auto Shanghai 2021, the ES is a key model in the Lexus lineup – having first appeared with the launch of the first-generation LS flagship sedan in 1989.
The multimedia system on the new ES now features a touch display. Based on Lexus’s human-centered approach, the display has been moved closer to the driver and tilted approximately five degrees for ease of use. Furthermore, the display’s screen utilizes glass to improve visibility and operability.
The vehicle can be locked and unlocked with a Bluetooth-activated digital key accessed through a dedicated smartphone app. The digital key can also be used to start the engine and, because it uses Bluetooth, the user does not have to take their phone out of their bag or pocket to use it. If the user’s smartphone is lost or stolen, the digital key function can be disabled remotely.
