LeddarTech has released the latest version of its LeddarEngine software, which aims to facilitate and accelerate LiDAR sensor development. This complete solution comprises of the LeddarCore LCA3 system on chip (SoC) and LeddarSP signal processing.

This new version introduces new integration tiers and compatibility with new hardware platforms and porting to new operating systems. Through it, LeddarTech is also introducing a separation of the control, signal processing, and point-cloud processing – which can be used independently or together to maintain greater control over the customer’s final solution.

The company says that LeddarEngine will also benefit LiDAR developers, who, with it, will only utilize the control kernel – enabling the more efficient integration of the LeddarCore into their products savings in cost, size, and power consumption. Likewise, suppliers and system integrators can benefit similarly from LeddarTech’s proprietary signal acquisition and processing algorithms, while leveraging the existing signal processing toolchain and developing their own algorithms. For all users, the software is fully scalable and modular, helping to accelerate development and time-to-market.

LeddarEngine’s latest version is compatible with Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC, in addition to the already supported Renesas R-Car SoC. Furthermore, the porting to other platforms and operating systems is now easier than ever, thanks to this new modular architecture which improves the separation of hardware and software.
