Innoviz Technologies has expanded its collaboration with Volkswagen Autonomous Mobility, the OEM’s autonomous vehicle technology arm.
Together, the firms will aim to accelerate the integration of InnovizTwo LiDAR units into the ID. Buzz AD, Volkswagen’s L4 autonomous shuttle. This expansion is expected to accelerate the integration of the InnovizTwo units into the ID. Buzz AD autonomous shuttle platform, supporting MOIA’s planned market expansion across multiple cities in Europe and the U.S. beginning in 2026.
This new initiative will receive support from Innoviz’s recently announced partnership with Fabrinet for mass production of the InnovizTwo LiDAR platform. These advances altogether will work to ensure Innoviz’s readiness for scaled manufacturing and deployment ahead of next year’s planned start of production, aligning with its multiple commercialization plans.
Ultimately, the enhanced partnership will deepen the relationship between Innoviz and Volkswagen, while building on the integration of both the InnovizTwo Long-Range LiDARs and InnovizTwo Short- to Mid-Range LiDARs into the ID. Buzz AD vehicles. With a total of nine InnovizTwo LiDAR units per vehicle, Volkswagen expects its Level 4 autonomous fleet to offer comprehensive 360° sensing coverage, enabling safer navigation in dense and complex urban environments.
