Hesai Technology, a provider of automotive LiDAR technologies, will deepen its cooperation with BYD – providing the OEM with its LiDAR technology for more than 10 of its upcoming models. The models themselves are expected to enter mass production in 2025.
The announcement of this partnership follows BYD’s own announcement that all of its models will be equipped with its next-generation ADAS, called God’s Eye. Representing BYD’s next-generation ADAS, the integration of God’s Eye into these models reflects the automaker’s mission to ensure that its ADAS features are broadly and easily accessible. LiDAR will play a key role in the development of God’s Eye, empowering two variants of the system while supporting BYD’s navigation on autopilot (NOA) capabilities.
For Hesai, the renewed collaboration will support the achievement of its planned annual production capacity, which it expects to exceed two million units in 2025. As of February 2025, the supplier has announced over 100 design wins across 22 automakers, including Chery, Great Wall Motors, and Changan. The company’s flagship ATX LiDAR has similarly been selected by various OEMs alongside European and American OEM joint ventures in China for mass production since its release in April 2024.
The ATX itself offers strong sensor performance within a compact form, empowering the operations of many advanced assisted driving functions. Hesai expects the sensor to enter mass production in the first quarter of 2025, with multiple companies incorporating it into standard configuration for mass production models later on in the year.
