In collaboration with Nuro, 7-Eleven is launching an autonomous delivery service in Mountain View, California. The partnership will enable 7-Eleven customers in the service area to order groceries through the 7NOW delivery app and have their products delivered by a self-driving vehicle.

The service begins through the app, which is available for iOS and Android devices as well as the 7NOW website. After choosing their selection of items, the user can enable autonomous delivery at the checkout. 7-Eleven’s autonomous deliveries are available between 8:00 am to 9:00 pm Pacific Time at no additional charge for customers in Mountain View.

7NOW sends updates to the user as their order is processed – with autonomously delivered orders expected to arrive in approximately 30 minutes. When it arrives, the user meets the autonomous vehicle outside before retrieving their items from it.

Nuro will begin this delivery service with its autonomous Priuses, and later introduce its R2 delivery bots. These robots have been custom-built by Nuro to transport products and goods without any occupants in the vehicle. The Californian DMV granted a deployment permit in December 2020 Nuro, enabling the development and launch of its autonomous delivery service with 7-Eleven.
