Autotalks and STMicroelectronics to showcase 2nd-Gen V2X Solution at CES 2018

  • DSRC-based V2X solution exceeds all mandated USDOT requirements
  • Highlights the seamless integration of V2X with telematics while showing forward collision warning and three other V2V/V2I use cases
  • Also use Virtual Reality to show Vehicle-to-Vehicle and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure benefits in common hazardous driving situations: highway, urban road, intersection, and side road

Autotalks and STMicroelectronics, are working together to improve mobility on the roads through the use of DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication) -based Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications technology. The partners will highlight both Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) use cases during CES® 2018 in Las Vegas.

The showing, a product of a multi-year collaboration, is the world’s first mass-market-ready 2nd-generation DSRC-based V2X solution. Featuring ST’s state-of-the-art Telemaco3 telematics platform and Autotalks’ CRATON2 chipset, which is the most advanced and secure V2X communication solution in the form of a commercial module, the demonstration will show how the now-commercially-ready technology can be used to avoid collisions, describe road conditions, and indicate distance to important infrastructure, such as EV charging stations. The DSRC-based technology today exceeds all existing US Department of Transportation (USDOT) specifications.
